Eduroam

You will need a remote access account to sign-in. This is different from your Single Sign-On (SSO) account and can be obtained through IT Services self-registration.

Annoyingly, you need access to the internet in order to register to get online... There are kiosk computers available in the Pidge room and computer rooms in both OWL and Mob libraries. These have limited access to the internet but will allow you to register for a remote access account.

Once you have a remote access account, try connecting to the Eduroam as you would for any other Wi-Fi network. You will be prompted to enter a username and password, this is your remote access account username followed by '@ox.ac.uk' (e.g. mert1234@ox.ac.uk) and your remote access account password.

Once you've been able to get online on your device, it is highly recommended that you install the Eduroam Configuration Assistance Tool which correctly configures your device to ensure a more stable connection. This can be downloaded here.

Microsoft office

Students are able to download a free copy of Microsoft Office 365 (Pro Plus), provided by Oxford University IT Services. (The university outsources the management of this to Kivuto (trading as OnTheHub), so all requests for help with purchasing, downloading and installing need to go to support@kivuto.com)

This includes copies of programmes such as Word, Excel, Powerpoint, Outlook, OneNote, and a few more...

To get your hands on a copy, simply head to the OnTheHub website where you will be required to verify your student status by logging in with your Oxford SSO account. You will then be able to download a 12-month subscription to Microsoft Office 365 Pro Plus, so you will be required to renew this each year while you are studying at the University.
