Sexual Health

Contraception

You should find a variety of condoms and lube in the laundry rooms; do let your Welfare reps know if stocks are running low. Please check the boxes and sachets carefully for signs of tampering or damage; dispose if you are unsure. If you have concerns, please do not hesitate to get in touch and we will discreetly pidge you stock fresh from OUSU.

Instructions for use should be found within the packaging or in literature about the laundry rooms, but you can bone up upon your knowledge of condom mechanics and reproductive health with the incredibly informative 'Condom: Essential Wear' website from the Departments of Health and Education and Skills.

Emergency contraception is available from your GP, though if you are concerned that you will not get an appointment in time, check out the Alec Turnball Family Planning Clinic and the GUM Dept of the Churchill Hospital.

Pregnancy Tests

'Dip and Read' hCG Pregnancy Tests from Pasante Healthcare Ltd. are available free of charge from your Welfare reps, who will treat your request with most absolute of confidence. The instructions are somewhat clinical but please do not be put off (for instance, they deem it appropriate to inform that false positives may be generated in those with testicular tumours or prostate cancer...). Follow them carefully and ask the College nurse or doctors for further guidance. Electronic copies, over two pages (read both!) may be downloaded internally below. They are relevant only to the aforementioned tests available from your Welfare reps as of January 2008. Do not assume that the same procedure and interpretations may be extended to other commercially available tests.

In Adobe Reader 8, use 'View > Rotate View > Clockwise' for more comfortable reading.

Chlamydia and other Reproductive Health Tests

The GUM (Genitourinary Medicine) department of the Churchill Hospital provide a comprehensive service of sexual health tests, including free Chlamydia testing. See www.wellsafe.org for more details. A drop-in mini screening clinic is available, taking place at the GU Medicine Department, Churchill Hospital, Monday to Friday 1.15pm to 3.15pm. You can also call for a routine appointment: 01865 231231.

Dental Dams are available on request from the Welfare/LGBT reps.
