Neave Society

Neave Soc is Merton's politics and current affairs society.

We're informal, non-partisan and open to all Mertonians, regardless of political views or degree subject (our meetings having brought together Mathmos, Lawyers, Chemists and English students). At our fortnightly discussions the emphasis is on inclusive participation, rather than debate protocol or winning the argument. There is no pressure to speak; you can just sit and listen while helping yourself to the free wine and food (which are plentiful, we promise!)

We also invite guest speakers. Last year we had Frank Field MP, Theresa May MP and Ronald Stewart-Brown, Director of the Trade Policy Research Centre. In the coming terms, we will be hearing from Norman Lamb MP, Michael Howard MP and Charles Grant, Director of the Centre for European Reform,  with more to be confirmed!
