Neave Soc is Merton's politics and current affairs society.
We're informal, non-partisan and open to all Mertonians, regardless of political views or degree subject (our meetings having brought together Mathmos, Lawyers, Chemists and English students). At our fortnightly discussions the emphasis is on inclusive participation, rather than debate protocol or winning the argument. There is no pressure to speak; you can just sit and listen while helping yourself to the free wine and food (which are plentiful, we promise!)We also invite guest speakers. Last year we had Lord Skidelsky, Iain Duncan Smith and Andrew Mitchell among many others and, in the year ahead, we will be joined by Geoff Hoon MP, Simon Hughes MP, Frank Field MP, Norman Lamb MP with more to be confirmed!
