Your 2008/9 JCR Executive Committee (Exec) were elected to run the day-to-day business of the JCR... including Bops! However, it takes more than 8 people to run the JCR, so be sure to see more information on the wider JCR Committee also.

Alistair Haggerty
alistair.haggerty <at> merton.ox.ac.uk | Facebook | St. Alban's 4:1
I’m Alistair, a second year Historian and I will be your JCR President for the upcoming year. As JCR President I’m responsible for making sure the Exec carry out their jobs correctly, representing the JCR to assorted College committees and attending meetings involving the wider University. However, the part of the job I most relish is talking with and working with other students, whether they are Mertonians or from other Colleges. Therefore, if you have any questions at any point throughout the year, feel free to speak to me. No question will be considered too small or insignificant. You are always welcome to give my room a buzz (St. Albans 4:1), phone me or send me an email.
Vice President

Nick Lunn

Hi, my name’s Nick and I’ll be your Vice President this year! I’m also in charge of taking minutes at JCR meetings, organising Open Days, and the all important Room Ballot (more about that later in the year!). If you’ve any questions about how JCR meetings work, especially if you’d like at any point to submit a motion, then don’t hesitate to get in touch by sending me an email or popping in to see me in Rose Lane 2:1. I’m also peer-support trained and the LGBT rep, so if you’re having any problems at all, don’t hesitate to pop round or drop me a line.

Angel Sarmiento

I'm Angel Sarmiento, and a second year E&Mist. I have two jobs: keeping our JCR from going bankrupt (I'll try to resist temptation!) and helping you out with any personal or college finances. I come from Mexico, a country known for its friendship and hospitality. Hopefully you'll find me empathising, providing a helping hand, and always being ready for a long conversation over a cup of our delicious hot chocolate. When you have any financial issues, no matter how difficult or non-College related, drop by or drop a line: I'll be truly pleased to help!

Bill Hellier

Hello! As the JCR IRO I am responsible for essentially all of the publications that the JCR produces throughout the year. I also preside over all JCR elections and hustings, help Walter de Merton to write the Merton News, and put on the fortnightly Bar Quiz. If you need information (such as questions that weren't answered by this Guide), don't hesitate to get in touch via email or Facebook.

Hey there! I'm Henry, a second year mathmo, and your Male Welfare Rep for this year. I'll be working with Sarah to try and provide you with a Welfare Tea each Sunday at 4pm, a weekly film night and anything you could possibly need in a welfare capacity, from free condoms to pregnancy tests to personal attack alarms. You're always welcome to buzz me in my room (Rose Lane 3:3), whether for a chat or just a cup of tea or coffee, knowing that whatever is said is in the strictest confidence. You can also contact both myself and Sarah, at any time, via email, Facebook or by 'phone.

Sarah Hird

Hi, I’m Sarah, a second year PPEist and your Female Welfare Rep. Henry has pretty much covered everything that we will do so I won't repeat it. Anything that you discuss with us is completely confidential so please do come and see us, how ever small your problem may be (I'm in Rose Lane 3:4). If, for some reason, you have to miss Welfare Tea, you can also catch both of us generally around College. We're always ready to help!

Entz

Rosie Eccleston (Coordinator)
rosie.eccleston <at> merton.ox.ac.uk | Facebook
Hi, I'm Rosie, a second year biologist, and I'm going to be your entz co-ordinator for the next year! As Entz reps, me and Gabby are in charge of making sure you all have an amazing year, organising loads of things to keep you entertained including BOPs, Karaoke, club nights and maybe even the odd alternative bar quiz. As co-ordinator, I'm definitely the more fun entz rep who puts in all the hard work, organising and telling you about our events, whilst Gabby just does the boring financial bits. Feel free to get in contact if you want to find out more about what we've got planned!

Gabby Sanghera (Treasurer)
gurpreet.sanghera <at> merton.ox.ac.uk | Facebook
Oioi! I'm Gabby, a second year lawyer and entz treasurer extraordinaire. My job is to work alongside the Entz Co-ordinator in ensuring your first year at Merton is filled with fun, jokes and plenty of wild times. However being the sharper member of the Entz duo, I also have to manage the Entz budget which will be paying for all the exciting events we have planned for the College this year. If you have any questions or any feedback (much appreciated) just drop me an e-mail.
