JCR Exec

Your 2009/10 JCR Executive Committee (Exec) were elected to run the day-to-day business of the JCR... including Bops! However, it takes more than 8 people to run the JCR, so be sure to see more information on the wider JCR Committee also.

The Executive Committee

President

Jonathan Jonathan Hinder

jonathan.hinder <at> merton.ox.ac.uk | Facebook | St. Albans 4:1

Hi, I’m the JCR President for this academic year 2010/11.  As your President, I am responsible for ensuring the JCR’s views and interests are represented at both college and university level.  Amongst other things, I supervise the JCR Exec and wider committee in their duties, chair the fortnightly General Meeting and communicate the College’s policies to students.  I am always happy to discuss any issues via email or in person, so please don’t hesitate to send me a message or call in to St Albans 4:1 at any time.

Vice President

Charlotte Charlotte Mason

charlotte.mason <at> merton.ox.ac.uk | Facebook | Rose Lane 2:1

Hey, I’m Charlotte, a second-year Physicist, and I’ll be your Vice President this year. Mostly you’ll find me doing the agendas and minutes for JCR meetings (I’m happy to help if you’ve got questions about putting a motion together) but I also run Open Days and Interviews (watch this space for calls to arms for volunteers!), and sort out the Room Ballot. Should be a fantastic year, and if you have any questions at all don’t hesitate to get in touch.

Hi, I’m James and I’ll be serving as your treasurer over the coming year. I’m a 2nd year PPEist, a keen skier, rower and musician. I’m responsible for all of the JCR’s money you might wish to use for good (or otherwise!) As well as keeping an eye on JCR finances, I’m on hand should you need any advice on any financial issues you may have. Feel free to stop me for a chat or send me an email.

Information & Returning Officer (IRO)

Peter Peter Berry

peter.berry <at> merton.ox.ac.uk | Facebook

I’m Peter and I’m your Information and Returning Officer (I.R.O.). I’m responsible for all publications the JCR produces, most importantly aiding Walter de Merton in writing the weekly Merton News, our bastion of highbrow political discussion, gossip and wonderful pictures. I also run the fortnightly bar quiz (the highlight of anyone’s fortnight!) and I am responsible for running all elections, so if you fancy running for anything, you have to get past me first… If you have any questions at all about generally being a fresher, feel free to drop me a message!

Hi, I’m Caroline, a second year History and French student, and I’ll be one of your welfare reps in the coming year. There are loads of details below about exactly what this means, but the main thing you should always be aware of is that we’re happy to offer whatever personal support you care to ask for – whether it’s answering questions, lending a friendly ear to any problems or concerns, or just having a chat. You can come by anytime during term (Rose Lane 3:4) for tea, or drop me an email if you have any niggling questions in the meantime. Have a top summer!!
