Hi, I’m Priya, your Academic Affairs Rep. If you have any worries, dilemmas or issues with exams, essays, problem sheets, tutorials or lectures, I am here to help. Also, do feel free to contact me if you have any suggestions for new books for the library. I can also put you in touch with the many workshops that the university runs to help with study skills and essay writing.
I will be working closely with the rest of the JCR welfare team, so don’t hesitate to get in touch with me, and together, in strict confidence, we can sort out any problem!

Barnaby Lynch

Hi, I'm Barney and I'm Access Rep. A lot of what we do in Access is about talking to kids from various schools to encourage them first to apply to Oxford, then to debunk the myths about all these Oxford stereotypes - and particularly libelous rumours about Merton (OUSO apology accepted). Mostly we'll be targeting people from schools with a low record of Oxbridge applicants, but we'll be providing tours, talks and lots of Powerpoints to those from all walks of life. If anyone thinks this might sound like fun, please let me know and you can help out at as few or as many events as you'd like!

Bar Steward
Paul Bryant
paul.bryant <at> merton.ox.ac.uk | Facebook
Hello! I'm Paul and I'm your bar steward. This largely means that I get to fulfil my life dream of spending as much time as possible in the bar. The bar is a great place to drink, eat (toasties) and be merry. I help maintain the jukebox and the equipment in the games room, as well as liase with our wonderful barman Dave about any opinions the JCR have on the bar. Therefore, if you have any comments please email me or come and talk to me - I'll probably be in the bar.
The Merton Bar. Reassuringly inexpensive.

Careers Rep
Alice Salvage
alice.salvage <at> merton.ox.ac.uk | Facebook
Hello, my name is Alice and I'm the Careers Rep at Merton. It's my job to organize the careers provision with college and co-ordinate with the university careers service. My aim is to provide careers information for everyone, whether you know exactly what you want to do or have no idea! During the year, I’ll be organising events where alumni come and talk about what they went on to do after college. I'll also be making it possible to talk to current Merton students about a variety of internships and trainee schemes.
If you need any advice on where to go for Careers guidance, or have any ideas for something that you think would make the role more useful, please don’t hesitate to get in touch. The role of Careers Rep is a very new one, and I am keen to hear your ideas for how it can be developed.
Charities Rep
Rob Day
robert.day <at> merton.ox.ac.uk | Facebook
Hello! I'm Rob, a second-year Ancient and Modern Historian, and I'm your Charities Rep for the year. My role involves attending meetings for the university-wide RAG, chairing the Charities Sub-Committee which distributes money to JCR members for charitable activities, running RAG Week within Merton in the 5th week of Hilary, and organising the annual vote on which charities Merton JCR supports. I'm also going to try and encourage more volunteering amongst Merton JCR, so if you want any advice on that - from helping at a single RAG Raid to spending a year building wells in Africa - or if you want to accompany me to Oxford RAG meetings, sit on or apply for money from the Charities Sub-Committee, suggest a fundraising event, or anything else charitable, do get in touch.
Environment and Ethics Rep
Lucy Serocold
lucy.serocold <at> merton.ox.ac.uk | Facebook
Hi, I'm Lucy - I'm a second-year classicist, and your enviroment and ethics rep. This means that I try to get people to recycle more (there are bins all around college), turn lights off when they're not in use and generally make Merton as green as possible. I'll also be working with college on their carbon footprint. If you have any thoughts or ideas for how we can make Merton a more wonderfully ethical place to be, don't hesitate to get in touch!
Equal Opportunities and LGBT Rep
Ahnaf Abdul
ahnaf.abdul <at> merton.ox.ac.uk | Facebook | Holywell 58 room 3
Heya, I’m Ahnaf, your Equal Opportunities and LGBT Rep. I’m here to talk to you about a) discrimination, b) sex, and c) anything else – all in strict confidence. Along with the rest of the welfare team, I’m sworn to use my amazing peer support powers only for (your) good. If you have any concerns about equality, questions about available support, or special needs regarding exams or other matters, get in touch! I’ll also be organising equality and LGBT-themed events, so suggestions are always welcome.

I'm James, your JCR Food Rep. My job is to make sure that Hall serve the food that you like, so you guys need to tell me what you like and don't like. I also organize special dinners, such as Christmas dinners and termly Black-tie dinners, and look after the JCR kitchen. You'll find me around college, or I am always available by email, so I'm looking forward to your opinions.

Leah Astbury
leah.astbury <at> merton.ox.ac.uk | Holywell 2:6 | Facebook
Hello! I'm Leah, the International Students' Rep. I'll be putting on a few cultural events throughout the year (for both International and UK students alike) with something of a multicultural slant. I'm also here in a welfare capacity to answer any queries you have about internationally-related issues. In addition to this, I'll be in charge of organising storage over the big summer break. If you have any questions, suggestions for an event or just fancy a chat, I'd love to hear from you. Ring, email or drop round any time.

Ben Walpole

Yoho Ahoy! I'm Ben, and proud to be this year's Punts and Kayaks Officer (or Admiral of the Fleet, for short). In fact, I guess I'll now respond to any appropriately maritime title, dignified or doggish, so do holla if ever your naval needs are unfulfilled, and, come Trinity sun, do find time for a blissful, relaxing, or otherwise memorable afternoon on our local riviera.
p.s. Did anyone else watch Yoho Ahoy? It was pretty terrible, as I remember.
Sports Rep
Richard Millar
richard.millar <at> merton.ox.ac.uk | Facebook
Hi, I'm Richard, and I'm your JCR Sports Rep and Junior Amalgas Treasurer. If you want to get involved in any of the sports clubs in college, set up a new one, or have any general sports or exercise related queries, then let me know! I organize the JCR Sports Day in Trinity Term, which involves a perfect mix of serious and fun events, complete with plentiful amounts of free food and drink. Also, I organize the sports recognition dinner, to recognize the achievements of sports men, women and teams from Merton throughout the year.

Ahoy there! I'm Dani and this Hilary I have the utmost honour of being your Tentz rep.
