A careers-y email this time...

The usual schedule of the week attached. Also see below for two opportunities for finalists (a British council assistantship in China and a museum curator traineeship), a business challenge, a journalism internship in Bolivia and some events for would-be lawyers (interviews for solicitors, an event for non-lawyers, an event for disabled students that want to be lawyers).

FINALISTS:

1. Be an English-language TEACHING ASSISTANT in CHINA!
--- You have to be a finalist. The degree can be in any subject.
--- You do not need knowledge of Mandarin.
--- Candidates must have had their secondary and higher education in the UK and hold a UK or other EU member state passport.
--- Deadline for applications is 28th February. [Apply early as you will need extra documents such as: a university reference; a copy of your passport; a letter stating that you will graduate.]

2. FUTURE CURATORS - MUSEUM TRAINEESHIPS:
'Future curators' is a unique and exciting project which offers trainees the opportunity to spend a total of 18 months at two UK museums where they gain in-depth knowledge of the museum sector and an accredited diploma in curatorship.
The British Museum and five partner museums are looking for five creative individuals to take part in this work-based training initiative.

JOURNALISM INTERNSHIPS at Bolivian Express:

Whether you’re figuring out what to do over the summer or planning your year abroad we are interested in hearing from you. We are looking for writers, photographers, designers, as well as people interested in marketing and business development. Whatever your background, there are many ways you can make a contribution. Some experience and basic knowledge of Spanish is valuable but what is most important is a genuine interest in journalism, publishing or marketing, as well as curiosity for Bolivia and everything it has to offer.

1. MOCK INTERVIEWS FOR SOLICITORS
Wednesday 1 February, and Wednesday 29 February, All day, 
The Careers Service - book through CareerConnect
These law specific mock interviews will be useful for anyone going to a solicitor vacation scheme interview or a training contract interview now or in the summer. They will all be held at the Careers Service and be conducted by large, commercial law firms.

3. EVENT FOR DISABLED STUDENTS CONSIDERING LAW
Friday 3 February, London
The OPEN Event still has places for any disabled students considering a career in law. This event is organised by 7 of the leading law firms including Linklaters, Allen and Overy and Clifford Chance. On the day there will be a mix of presentations, panel discussions and informal networking which will give students a chance to meet and learn from professionals working at these companies. It is their chance to find out about the careers and placements on offer, and to ask any questions you might have about the great opportunities and challenges available in this sector
